Features
- One piece cast iron construction
- Never requires any servicing
- Media are water, water/glycol mix
- 61 Cv
- Operation - Air being lighter than water, it travels along the upper portion of horizontal pipe in low velocity hydronic systems
- As the air and water enter the air scoop there velocity decreases, permitting the air bubbles to be scooped up by the baffle and direct to the top of the chamber
- The air reaching the top of the air scoop is either immediately vented through a Hy-Vent or it moves into a conventional plain steel expansion tank (models 433, 434, 435, 436, and 437), if used
- Should the air completely fill the plain steel tank and back down into the Air Scoop, the excess will be removed by the hy-vent without disturbing the operation of the system
- Taco air scoops are available in 1 in through 3 in cast iron threaded
- Each air scoop has an 1/8 in vent connection on top for the installation of a Taco 400-3 or 416-1 hy-vent, and a 1/2 in bottom tapping for a diaphragm expansion tank
- The 1-1/2 in through 4 in air scoops also have an additional top tapping for the connection of a plain steel expansion tank
- 4 in top to inlet
- 1/2 x 1/8 in NPT
- Engineered Baffle to Separate Air from Water
Description
The special design and internal baffles of Taco Air Scoops slow water velocity to separate the air from solution. Thanks to this design, Taco Air Scoops efficiently remove air to provide noiseless, air-free hydronic heating, cooling or combination systems. They also provide an economic way to integrate air elimination by the connection of either a plain steel or diaphragm expansion tank. Quality features include one-piece, cast iron construction, and engineered baffle to separate air from water, maximum operating pressure of 125 psi (862 kPa) and maximum operating temperature of 300 deg F (135 deg C).
